Thread: upgrades....

Last night I went down to shed after about three days to find rear of car evenly lower than the front. With the self leveller isolated now I thought I might find one corner down , but both rear down and even puzzles me. I start the car and it drops straight to entry level, if I hit standard it rises straight away. If I park for more than 15 mins on uneven ground when I start again it wobbles around until it finds a level.I will try a soapy water spray again to see. I finished the new air intake...seams to be fine.

I thought about this but decided the danger of water ingress and consequent damage is worse than the long term effects of the heat.

Sorry in advance (especially to Ron) for the crap wording/grandma(!) of this response... but...

Isn't the fuse box issue a result of the "too short" overflow pipe on the expansion tank causing premature aging on solder joints and/or the over use of the heater relays due to blocked pollen filters causing clogged blend motors to be over stressed and/or jammed?

I sorted the overflow pipe issue by simply poking the end into a small (200ml) plastic drink container. The bottle stays upright ...doesn't need restraining. When the expansion reservoir is filled to the correct level when cold, it should not overflow.... if it does, suspect head gasket leak.... so there should be no fluid in the container... makes excellent visual check point

It seems to be a combo of those issues and especially RL7, I am looking at replacing that standard relay with a heavier duty one which should dissipate the heat a little better.

Also thinking about other ways to ventilate the box without compromising it's seal

I had a bit of trouble with the suspension on mine being unlevel and changing each time I parked it, I did the recalibrate the height sensor thing and all is much better now, the car sits level when parked and when in use.

A few years ago I externally mounted rl 6 and 7. Used 150 amp hella relays, and mounted them next to the ecu box under the battery cover. It was a second hand relay box though, so it's hard to make any assessment on it. They sure do get hot though, especially with the fans on high!

Hi all, some good ideas boys. The fuse box seal was never that good anyway on mine so assumed it was heating up from relays etc. Might not work but will test temps soon. The self levelling thing works great, except for the dropping to entry each time i start the car, resorted to putting it down first. Now, has not stopped the battery going dead in three to four days. Brand new battery mind you. I leave the key on the dash down in the shed so its near the car when i want to move it out of the way of the mower...will leaving the key in the car be causing the car to be alert for any reason, I've heard about rf frequencies and stuff but should i take key away from car?...not sure at all now why this is happening.

Also, I have put an add in everything else for sale for some landrover sandals, they are on gumtree too, bought new but too big for my feet.Check it out. Hoges, I will try the bottle idea as well, anything to help.
