I've got an MSV-2 Extreme, wouldn't trade it for anything!
Haven't tried the others myself.
Cheers

Up until now my Blackbox Faultmate FCR and RSW EAS unlock v1 has served me well.....but I'd like to do more to maintain the running of the car as well as testing different modules. Nanocom Evolution, RSW EAS v3 and Lynx are all potentials with my current thought being the RSW EAS v3. But before committing the $$$ I thought I'd pose the question to the p38 experts. Whilst $$ are certainly a consideration, the cheapest option is not always the best option when perhaps in 6 months time I find that if I'd spent the extra $100 or so the function that I was looking for is not available on the cheaper model.
What does everyone else use? If you had the choice again which would you choose?
Thanks in advance
Gary

Like Keithy, I also have the MSV-2 extreme, it has proven to be an excellent unit.
I have not tried the others either, so can't comment on those.
It's something that can sit unused for a period of time, then all of a sudden you really need it and you are very glad you have it!
I do a scan for faults every now and then just to check, it did uncover a couple of things I was not even aware of.
If you get either of those units I'll be very interested to hear what you think of them.
I have had a Faultmate MSV1 for over 7 yrs. totally reliable on a 10" Netbook I've had for yonks. It also has RSW's original EAS software. Occasionally plug in a Bluetooth dongle and study TorquePro on a Smsng Note 10.1 when SWMBO drives...![]()

Nanocom Evo here, it does everything I need and works a treat

Well I'm not even close to be an expert but I've used my Nanocom Evolution a lot over the last 3-4 months as I had problems with O2 sensors failing, cooling temperatures and recent air pressure leaks. While reading codes and checking data/results didn't fix the issues, but gave me information that certainly helped me measure, test and asses the system/symptoms. More than that the Nanocom Evolution covered its purchase costs by deleting and resetting the codes and systems at home, and not having to travel to and pay for the dealer to do that. I now carry it with me, especially when I travel like I did when I went to Adelaide across Christmas. Lastly, I understand that this device can assist me to bleed the brakes electronically, alone. I still haven't read about how that works and how useful that may be but others may comment about their own experiences. Good luck.
As a matter of interest, I sent a request to Blackbox to see if the re was an upgrade path from the FCR. Unfortunately no. The reply from Blackbox is copied below....
The device I recommend you for the tasks you want to do is the Nanocom Evolution.
It will cover all the functions that you require at the same level as the dealer specs, in some cases even more.
You can check it on our Emulator on our website:

I'm not sure why they wouldn't be recommending the more expensive MSV-2?
Gary
Hi Gary,
some of the members here do know more than I do about why the MSV-2 are more expensive and are required for, but I believe that the MSV-2 can install and reset an odometer when a speedometer is repaired or replaced. If you tried this with my Nanocom Evolution (NE) the replacement speedometer would be reset to the highest odometer number, even if your older one was lower. i.e. if yours was 140,000 and the replacement/repaired one at 170,000km the higher level would be recorded in the BECM, even if it's inaccurate about your car/engine. I understand the MSV-2 can correct this, and other useful functions that the NE cannot, hence the price. I bought my NE at around $600AUD including shipping with insurance. The staff were very helpful even after I had ruined the currency arrangement after they had set them up properly, with clear instructions. Customers can be a problem, often.
