    GEMS intake trumpets

    Hi

I was pointed in the direction of these by Mark Adams while discussing a tornado chip

TI022B Superflare trumpets RV8 3.9- 4.5L + thermal gasket - ACT Performance Products - your source for after market TVR upgrades, components and performance accessories.

They look pretty awesome so I am thinking of fitting a set.

My current manifold has very short trumpets al la the callaway

The combination of the ACT trumpets, GEN III injectors and a tornado chip should give the beast a much nicer power curve

Are you after torque or power?
Peter (mechanic2you) fitted longer trumpets along with a plenum spacer in an attempt to alter the torque curve.

A little more of both would be nice but i think i would be happy to sacrifice a little power for more torque

Did the longer trumpets and spacer make a difference?

It made a difference but not the difference he was looking for. He's gone across to the 'othor' side now.

    Hi

I think the ATC trumpets are much more likely do do the business since they have been professionally designed and tuned

I think the taper is the key, they would provide a higher air density at the point where it enters the manifold

And they'd also have the same intake velocity into the head, so your not going to loose torque.

I wonder how thick the thermal gasket is (if it's designed to raise the plennum chamber? ) as it's already touching the under bonnet lining.

I'm not sure on the exact design of the trumpets Peter has but they were supplied by Bruce Davis (along with the plenum spacer) so you'd think they'd have been well thought out.
