Hi Sean I was looking at that very part on ebay last night.
Like your idea of sliding door & I do know a company in braeside that does that very type, however I dont think it would like me sleeping on it :o:o

Lazy Susan is also correct description but in this case it might be Lazy Marty or Lazy Rangie perhaps!
Does sound like something Landrover would come up with in a Rangie though!

On the subject of LPG - you may be interested to hear that it will no longer be available to cars as of 2020! so dont use tat space for a tank youd be wasting your time. ( that came from RACV at a recent car club meeting ) Hope I havent thrown the cat among the pidgeons:(:(

Another spot of water ingress is from the top of the rear window. There seems to be a few in the UK with the problem. The rear drains are easy enough to check on the sunroof once you have the side panels off on the inside of the car. On mine the drain hoses were not even clamped into the rubber drain valves, so if the valve had got blocked the water would have certainly built up pretty quickly in the wheel well.

I was going to take side trim panels off this weekend before finally fitting new drawer setup to run some additional wiring in behind there for extra lighting in drawers & 12v battery power to my rooftop DVD just in case I want to put myself to sleep with a movie as it is currently wired through ignition source. So i will check & test those sunroof drains.

Cant wait to see the reaction from my missus when I show her the Rangie Carousel :D She reckons the Rangie is my new Love as it is. For the first time in her life she may be right :D:D:D:D:D

Fantom, I read recently that another place that can leak is the top glass of tailgate gets unaligned .....apparently their is a part in Rave for realigning ..just a thought if all else fails.

Apart from the rear window there's possibilities of leaking panel seam (see pics), bumper bar bolt holes requiring a bit of sealant, the tailgate seal may need realigning etc...plenty to think about. Mine ended up being a slight gap between the panels which was drawing water in by capillary action between the plates... there's some pics explaining the fix, which wasn't difficult...just finicky and took a while...

Do you have any pics you can post up of the previous fitout especially as to how you managed to sleep in the cabin.. I'd never tried this because it seemed there wasn't enough space with the rear seat in place albeit rolled forward...

I am 6'4" and sleep in back of mine (with rear seats folded) every now and then. Good weather and I leave the lower tailgate down. Rain or snow I just curl up a bit.

Not many people actually sleep straight out... curled up in a pseudo foetal position is the norm isn't it?

I've slept in mine, with the rear seats removed. Head at tailgate end, which was closed. Front seats moved forward. Room for a six footer. You just need to flatten out the dip, of the rear foot well - i.e. stuff some soft stuff in there.

Best longer term option would be to board over the footwell, allowing storage space below.

Martin - given your oztent, is it worth it? I've never been as comfortable sleeping in a car, compared to a tent. Always seems colder somehow.

If there are two of us heading off overnight tent or hotel. If it is just me, I slept in the back of the car last year for the W4 Challenge. Back seat on the drivers side removed, tool box on the floor behind the drivers seat with a board over the top of it made for a level platform to sleep on. The squall and torrential downpour left many of the campers cold and wet and some had various canopies thrown around in the wind. Warm and dry in the back of the car ;).
