EAS Down on one side when disabled

    Hi

    My weirdness continues.

I have rebuilt a couple of valve blocks and have not been able to sort my EAS out yet.

The current situation is that with the self leveling disabled, the passenger side, both front and rear go down. The air tank is holding at least 90PSI overnight and there are no leaks i can see.

I looked at the schematic on Paul P38A's website and the valves for The front and rear are nowhere near each other.

Anyone have any clues here? I guess it's possible I have 2 faults I guess.

I have a new valve block driver which will be fitted tomorrow, the one i have is very chocolate looking.

Also the GEN III knockoffs were on special so I grabbed a set and they are on their way from the good ol USA

I am really hoping that the new driver will sort it out for you, block rebuilt and no leaks, if the system is disabled the driver and height sensors shouldn't effect anything, so it might be a double leak,

Could go round all day, let us know if the driver does the job

    Good luck

Sometimes the airbags can develop leaks that are very hard to detect, they will only leak at certain heights as the hole gets compressed due to lowering or raising the vehicle and changing the position of the fold on the airbag.
Mine was dropping on one corner, while I couldn't find any evidence of a leak aside from it dropping overnight, a new airbag fixed it.
It is possible you just happen to have two leaky airbags on the same side.
I will be interested to see how you go with the new driver pack, I'm thinking they are getting a few years old now, entirley possible the new pack will sort things out for you.
It doesn't hurt to replace the airbags, they will all leak eventually, at worst you will have new ones on and some spares....plus the new ones should be good for a long time.
In my experience sometimes you fix one problem, only to discover another becomes apparent!
But when you work through all the issues you should end up with a perfect eas system.
Let us know how you go!
    Cheers, Pete.

Well I replaced the driver block on Sat and it didn't really make much difference although the self leveling does not seem as aggressive and the compressor doesn't seem to run for as long.

The Gen III bags arrived on Mon so I chnaged the front one, I can't see any obvious leaks in the old Firestone one. It did seem to help a bit though.

So today I changed the right rear and lo and behold it looks like a Gen II arnott bag, so the car has a mix ! Who knows what I will find on the drivers side

So far it seems to be sitting nicely but overnight will tell the story.

Well the bag did not really fix the issue, it just went down more slowly

So I put my other driver block back in and when I started leak testing, 2 of the solenoids were leaking one for the front spring and the inlet valve. After doing a little reading on this subject I knew one could take the covers off the solenoids and use soapy water to see exactly where the leak was.

Turns out the spring valve was leaking from the stem and the inlet valve was leaking around the base. So I depressurised and removed the offending valves but on inspection the o-rings all seemed to be fine, none were crushed or out of position.

At this point is was getting a little so I went to the other valve block I had just removed and pulled the 2 valves I needed off that one. Fitted those valves to the block in the car and hey presto success. The system also holds 120 PSI overnight now

Except for the right rear which is one of the valves under the block

So it seems to me that the valves themselves are failing and/or becoming temperamental. One thread I read a guy swapped the spring valves over and they started working ! That gave me the idea to swap valves around.

I have now made a tester by connecting a schrader valve to a 6mm airline fitting. I can use my compressor to put say 90 PSI into an air line inlet to see if a valve is leaking or not before I put it in the car ! It could also be used to test air springs.

So tomorrow another valve gets swapped and the other two GEN III bags get fitted.
