Welcome to the madness mate!
From memory there are two different length bolts used, hopefully someone will have a stripped engine and can help you out
Regards
Steve
I've just picked up a '99 P38 4.0 and it's missing the water pump. Buying a new pump isn't a drama, but there's no bolts. Can anyone help me out with the sizes so I can buy some?
Or maybe you have some around the shed you don't need, and if it happens to include a working second hand pump that would be great.
Cheers T.C.

From memory, of the 10 (I hope I got that right), two of the bolts have an 11mm head too. The rest are 10mm heads.
Cheers

Google Rover V8 water pump bolts and you get a shedload of hits, this one may help.
Water pump & timing cover bolt threads | Classic Rover Forum
It seems there are stainless bolt kits available.
You could also try the RR Classic or Disco II forums on here, they are all basically the same engine, though there are two different timing covers.
Three long bolts hold the timing cover as well as the water pump.
Good luck
Steve

This kit lists them for the Bosch Engine, no sure what yours is or if GEMS is different

Bolts that go into the engine block are imperial (5/16"UNC) and bolts that go into the timing cover are metric (M8 x 1.25). Any bolt shop should be able to supply suitable bolts, head sizes are unimportant. Add 20mm to the length of every unthreaded hole section and you'll have the bolt sizes worked out within 5 minutes.

If you scroll down on the page which sells the kit, the bolt sizes are listed
Thanks everyone for the help. I got in contact with Dave from BCC in Melbourne. He was fantastic to deal with, and a top bloke.
Thanks to him I have a new pump and new bolts on the way at a great price. I can't recommend them highly enough.
