    P38 rebuild update

Well 1500kms done after 2nd rebuild and all appears to be great. I do have a strange thing going on with my abs and traction control. I did get abs fault incl orange light on dash and traction failure flash up when bought car. I replaced sensor on RHS wheel as faultmate said that wheel was issue. Made no difference. I replaced the ecu and fixed the fault. As car has been off road for so long with engine rebuilds, problem came back after 1000ks of driving...checked sensors, no idea. I friendly wrecker in burpengary , Richard at landy nut, put nanocom on and had fault RHS sensor shorting to another sensor. Was in the act of buying another sensor and now have weird ****. I get fault as soon as I start car..if I stamp on brakes lights go out and fault goes away...I drive for a while and then fault comes back...repeat...any ideas?

    That is odd.

Perhaps you could try and actually measure the sensor by turning the whel and measuring the voltage over the pins, it should alternate. Also did you check your relucator ring? It's the many toothed ring that the sensor reads. I had to move mine over from the original shafts to the HD ones and cracking, dirt and even a slight misalignment would cause trouble.

The only thing I could think of when you say shorting between sensors is a wiring error (short perhaps) in the loom near the plug or at the very least from the firewall in since the sensor wires never cross each other after that point.

    Cheers,

Well gents, 6000ks and all is well. I think I might have found my abs fault traction failed fault. I have a loose plastic vent for a/c on left side behind glove box. Water was ****ing out everywhere on corners and slopes parked...it was running through the diagnostic plug and under floor carpet to sill where wiring for sensors run. It is only a random fault I get for break in wire to rear wheel sensor. I made a new seal and siliconed up joint ...no water so will see if it's s coincidence soonP38 rebuild update

    good find

Just to clear things up; did the water come in through the fan unit? or did I misunderstand. My P38 has real trouble with water entering through the fan opening and dripping through the casing eventually. I was wondering if this is the same.
