Is this simply a replacement of the motor/regulator located inside of the door itself? I’ve heard teeth wear out on these eventually.

I replaced the regulator in my driver's door when I bought the car, as it had a few broken teeth and was clunking. Don't assume it is that, might be the nylon guides? I don't know, but my money is on the regulator. Best thing is to take the door card off and have a look. It was around $100 for an aftermarket replacement reg I think. Not a hard job, except you need to drill out the rivets that retain the regulator if it's a front door (rears might also be held on by rivets but RAVE suggests that they are bolts). I've heard of people replacing the rivets with nut/bolts, I just got new rivets.
