    Coolant leak

    Hi Folks,
I went to work the other day. When I parked one of the young blokes said " there is green **** running out under your car". When I lifted the bonnet the header tank had sprung a leak at the joint between the top and bottom halves. It is only a couple of months old. Lucky I still have the old one, fitted it today and she is back on the road. Does anyone make an alloy one?? Or do I have to make one myself. I have replaced the plastic thermostat housing with an alloy one and put the thermostat in the valley cover where it should be. Now on the next problem the non return valve in the fuel pump seems to be stuck open, as the fuel system won't hold fuel pressure for more than a few seconds. So it looks like I will have to drop the fuel tank again. So I will have to go to work and put it up on the hoist. A lot easier than rolling around on the ground.
    Regards,

My old header tank was leaking, I was able to get an aftermarket one to replace it.
I was made aware at time of purchase there had been some quality problems with plastic tanks developing leaks.
It has been a year and a half with no problems, but I do check it just to keep an eye on it.
Genuine LR would be the way to go if you can get one, that's what I'll replace mine with when the time comes.
I'm not sure about metal ones, you could probably get one custom made by a radiator place.
Good luck with the other issues, it's really been trying you out!

    Coolant leak

    Hi Peter,
yes it has not been my year, but I am slowly getting on top of things. I had a good run out of my other P38. About the only major work I did on it was to fix the oil leaks from the front seal and valley cover. And I drove the wheels off it. I love driving the one I have now with the new motor and after market head unit etc.
    Regards,
