Hi Folks,
well I was sick of the slight oil leak from the head gaskets. They were multi layer steel and the instructions said they were coated with some special coating and should be fitted as is. And I did as they said, and they leaked oil. So I pulled the heads off and replaced the gaskets, and this time I sprayed them with Hylomar. I also replaced the wiring to the right side knock sensor. When I cut the part of the harness open the insulation on the wires had all gone crumbly and the copper was shorted together. So that explains the engine light coming on randomly. Then I addressed the paint peeling of the new headers I purchased when I rebuilt the motor. I bead blasted them and repainted them with VHT high temp paint and then backed it on, then I wrapped them with heat wrap and refitted them. All in all I am pretty happy I got all the work done in one go. I had no sooner finished working on it and work sent me out of town for a couple of days, so I only got to drive it home. I will go for a good drive on the weekend, hopefully all goes well.
