Chipping a P38
Mate of mine is rebuilding his 4.6 for his P38, new flange liners all round, bit of a cam etc...
Needs to know can he get a chip for it and how much?
If he puts a bit of a cam in does it need a chip to run it?
Thanks

Hi Damien,
In the motherland there are a few who do this, Google 'Mark Adams' and Range rover performance, UK, and see what you get. I think Pharmhouse is a useful keyword too, as this is the name of his business.
He has developed GEMS chipping, as I'm assuming your mates one is a pre Motronic 94 to 99?
If it is a Thor type motronic model, 99/00 on then I'm not sure what is available other than try Warwick 4X4, the old JE Engineering Co in Coventry, UK. They have a few performance goodies for late stuff.
One of my customers has a UK imported 1992 Rangie classic 'Dakar ' model. This weapon was bought new in 1992, driven round to John Eales JE Engineering and given the works. A Dakar spec 4.5, ECU upgrade, hand built/ cast big bore manifolds, 2.25"engine pipes, 9.5:1 comp, close ratio planetaries in the ZF, Eibach suspension and Konis, etc etc. This was the company that built the engines for Zanaroli etc's Camel Rangies in the Paris-Dakar in the late 80's early 90's, hence the ' Dakar' decals on this Rangie. I thought of buying it to remove the engine and sit it in the office and look at it, as it is virtually a 'detuned' PD engine. (Drool drool...)
Goes very well too, currently running on LPG and quite efficient due to the hi compression.
Sorry about the rant, I just like this car....
Try the Google search.
