    Thanks, Ron,

That's what I needed to know. I'll get one cut and live without a remote.

No options apart from buying a new one from the dealer.
If you read these forums you will be warned about buying any from ebay.
Dont The ebay keys wont work.

There are 5 keys for each Range Rover only.
Each key can be identified by its colour.

How old is your P38? How long do you intend to keep it?
They key will eventually fail, so a 2nd one could be money worth spent now if you really need one.

    Good luck

I think It's a bit embarrassing for LR. At the price they're charging for a new key, it's just not an option (a sane option anyway). My FOB failed and I've been using mine without the buttons since. All the locksmiths i've spoken to tell me they can't cut a key for it...

    Arrgghhh!!

What? for a P38A? If needs be, you can buy a blank (to fit the keyfob) from LR. The keycode (from the dealer) should give a locksmith the details to plug into his computerised cutting machine. However, this is just the flip out part of the key.

My local (Discovery-owning) locksmith copied my key on one of his cutting machines as I didn't have the correct keycode. He had a full key blank in stock. My key is cut on a blank with this on it "Silca HU39P"

    G'day Ron,

From this I presume that you can safely use a key without a fob to start the car? If so I'll get myself one when I'm there next week. I still have only one key and that's a bit scary. I have also had the experience of locksmiths telling me it couldn't be done. Probably what they've been told by LR ...

Yes, I've used my key many times to start the car. I only have it plus the single fob.

Try getting a key locally now you lnow the Silca number. The locksmith I used was next door to the factory unit I used to own about 20km away (that's local, surely! )
