    ARB Locker

    Hey guys,

since i always have the most random questions i figure i might as well keep up tradition .

I am looking into getting a front ARB locker.....question i have is if i put a rear diff in the front that means i have to get a rear locker yeah??

i know its a bit stupid....but i have to try and figure this out in my head before i attempt it.

    Thanks Guys

    Mike

Lockers are not directional, but is your rear diff the same type of diff as your front and will a rear diff actually go into the front.

AFAIK the answers are no and no for the P38 RR.

When ARB puts them in the front and back together, they wire it so that you must have the back one locked before you can lock the front one.
This is so you don't lock the front accidently and have no steering.

So if you want only a front locker, I don't think you have to have a rear one as well.

Not sure what fits the P38 though.

AM I correct to assume that my 95 HSE has rear only traction control?
If I could only afford one locker would it make sense to put it in the front and let the rear TC do its job?

PS: ARB have a special on lockers for P38s at the momement.
ARB 4x4 Accessories (About $1200 per locker and get a free compressor or more).

First locker in the rear boys and girls.

Get a front later down the track when/if you can afford it.

Yes, only rear TC in your car.
I still think it'd be more beneficial in the rear though as TC is a reactive operation whereas the locker is proactive. TC works when you get into trouble but from what I've experienced it is quite good.

I guess you could put it in the front & see how you go. The front & rear diffs are interchangeable so if it didn't work out, then you swap them around & have a 4 pin diff at the front.

Actually, that'd be the way to do it. Fit the locker to your 2 pin front diff first & keep the 4 pin rear. Then fit whichever you want, wherever you want & have a strong diff at either end .
