I gotta admit that D2 bar looks alot nicer than my HRA one.

And you guys are right, my early HRA bar could be modified to take a winch but why bother if the ARB one already has the holes and, I assume, the reinforced backplate?

    maybe later...

I reckon there'd be plenty of takers for your HRA bar, Paul!

All the HRA bar requires to mount a winch is the holes cut in the right places. The PO of my bar had a winch mounted on it. The bar is made of 10mm thick alloy!

BTW, how much does an ARB D2 bar cost?

New release from ARB, P38 winch bar!

How did you modify the bar and which one did you buy specifically ? I just purchased a perfect low mileage RR P38 I am looking to build up. Any help is greatly appreciated !

You'll need to measure a disco chassis to make sure, but the width of the chassis box sections are the same as a disco, but are 15mm or so taller. The bar itself fits suprisingly well, but the wings won't line up with the wheel arch line.

I know arb have a third bolt going through the hole just under the front body mount on the disco 1. I've done this with my mcc bar but it's a lot of work, making up the chassis hangers and taking the condensor out to fit it.

Any welding will need to be done by a licenced welder and not alter the crush characteristics of the mount if it's too retain it's air bag compliance - thats the info I recieved anyway.

I have just put an arb disco 1 airbag compatible bullbar to my P38, will post a photo when I figure out how, but it only needed the brackets cutting out a bit but it fits almost perfectly.

All it took was to cut the top out of the receiver in the bar to let it sit lower, 15 to 20 mm was all it needed, then I just trimmed a little bit off of the end of the brackets, maybe 10 mm, just to give me some wiggle room to get it lined up, then just re drill one hole and a couple of new ones in each side and there you go, took maybe 2 1/2 hours all up, just need to wire the indicators up and it's done ( must get round to that).

If anyone needs any more information please let me know, I will see if I still have photos.

Hopefully there is a picture of the wheel arch, not quite perfect, but I think good enough
