    P38 Head unit

I want to take the face plate of my radio head unit, there are two small narrow slots but I can't seem to feel any kind of lock/tab/release etc behind them, suggestions.

    Cheers

    What spec? HSE/SE/lower?
Some base models had a locally fitted Eurovox unit.

Hi Rushy - if you can post a pic of the unit it will make it a lot easier for us to give useful suggestions.

    Cheers, Paul.

Most likely it's an Alpine. there are 2 keys required. They slot in each side of the radio chassis from the front.

Search RAVE "Special Service tools" section...page 133 of 140 using terms "radio removal" The Land Rover tool is LRT-86-006 there's a diagram and they're easy to make. I made mine from the black plastic base of a green Woolies grocery bag... LR proabably specify aerospace grade titanium...

You just need a couple of slivers a few mm wide and about 75mm long with a square section nibbled out a few from one end of each key. You slide the keys in horizontally at the top of the radio one each side... "nibbled" end first and facing "out" -the nibbled out section catches a tab : then just "pull" the keys out gently ...with the radio!

    cheers
