Thanks for the ride Dan.....top day out
26/27km covered, a couple of stacks, a few cleat moments..........the run from the top of the hill was that good we just had to have a second crack.........which lead to my smallish stack but don't believe a camera caught a snap. I am missing a bit of skin and nursing a sore knee

Awsome ride! 27kms!! :o Thanks Scallops and Rainman. 18 strong riders great turn out amd a real mixture of riding skills.
I still think afternoon rides are better :p I didn't manage anything this afternoon apart from bed and couch
The scary part is, we're off to Daisy Hill tomorrow morning for another ride :( Have I gone insane in my old age???????
Cheers,

Big thanks go to Scallops for planting the seed and guiding us Mt Joyce first timers ;). Usually rides with big numbers like that go badly but today went really, really well.
I'm eagerly awaiting Bilbo's photos to be uploaded and will of course link them up here. I only took car park photos because I was having too much fun out on the trails.

One of my Uni Cycle club friends (Miff) came along yesterday and took some pics throughout the morning, and has spun it all into a sweet little yarn....she has put them into her blog and this latest one is all about our Mt Joyce ride!
She comments on us, the Land Rover MTBers....Someone obviously put her right about us Land Rover guys too! :D
Check it out....

Firstly thanks to Dan for the organisation of a great morning out riding single track.
Secondly thank you to everyone present, always good to meet new people and such friendly ones at that. I got tips through out the day and everyone was very forgiving and understanding of my poor riding :D.
Now onto the day as I recall it... TOUGH! I really struggled on the main hill climb and trails on the ride to the top. I struggled in the switchbacks on the way down. I pretty much felt as if I was struggling 80% of the time, but I FREAKING LOVED IT!
The skill of the riders was IMHO very high, Notably Rainman and Bump who were always happy to hit things a number of times, which as a spectator I really enjoyed.
I think I had a number of close calls, but managed to stay on my bike (which is my one and only aim).
Due to my orsum riding skillz I was the victim of two pinch flats. I have to thank Dan yet again for both supplying me with my first tube and then teaching me how simple it was to change a tube.
The second tube was supplied by Truck who was also very helpful and gave further tube changing advise. I owe you guys as without them tubes it was going to be a long push back to the car.
I learnt so much in such a short time. I now know I need to carry some tubes and will be changing my tires (to some maxxis variant) in the very near future.
I also need to finalise my order with CRC for the Camelbak and find some comfy gloves.
The highlight of my day was the home brew supplied by James once I finally made it back to the car park. It was like a well earned reward for me :D
I am still sore today, I look forward to an increased fitness and hopefully less of a struggle each time.
So lastly, thanks again to all, I think we should attempt to make Mt Joyce a monthly ride of orsumness :D
Cheers

Glad you guys had fun! I'm edging to come out with you. Soon hopefully!
In other news I've been working on the fender getting him ship shape for Fraser so do look down on me for piking!:twisted:
Yeah I too am unsure why I did not work the first number of times, but I tried again shortly after my last post and it worked.
Interesting blog, and characters, provided a good giggle or three :)
Going to hit up Daisy Hill this Sunday me thinks, need to get back on the bike as much as possible.
Cheers

p.s. CRC still hasn't got back to me about my order... grrrr
I'm just a Joyce Junky....I'll try for another solo ride there next weekend.....
Will do Grim....
Why have many of the posts concerning this ride vanished? eg - my post with the blog link? I guess it's a clean up as this thread is for all rides.....but that is why I'd prefer to simply make a new thread for each adventure, as no posts get removed.
PS - I see my link now incorporated into other posts above....but surely this thread is going to cause weeds some unnecessary work!
