Advice on tyres for cross country racing

    Hi all

Further to my previous thread regarding a Giant VT one....well I bought it so now I am in the process of buidling it up with the plan on doing a few races this year. Firstly the LunarC and then the Epic.

I have just ordered a stack of bits from Chain Reaction (all Shimano XTR components ), but before I hit the buy all now button, just wondering what tyres I should be running?

I do like the Maxxis Minion in a 2.35, but will they be too heavy?

    Cheers

Well for my two bobs worth
Whatever it is go tubeless, use some stans or similar too
Schwalbe racing ralph are good on hardpack, but they have really thin sidewalls and you can cut em up pretty easy.
Maxxis crossmark are again very good on hard pack and have thick sidewalls (my choice in the dry) Available in 26" and 29" UST
Maxxis Ignitor are a great tyre in the wet and they are what I use over winter. The problem (if any with them) is that they dont come in 29er UST but they still fit up on a tubless rim and if you put Stans in they stay up.
