I have a lot to learn....
I thought that Fox were the ducks nuts, but after reading that article I am impressed (or depressed..not sure which)
Where did you source it from?
Cheers

I had to remove my thanks for that thread. You're just going to cost me money.:(
I just got the bits together to build a Manitou rear shock with seperate high and low speed compression circuits and custom stroke.
Still no seperate high speed rebound circuit, but I valve that internally and since I don't change spring rate once dialled in it doesn't matter much.
Fox shocks are the best of the mass-market stuff. I still ride a TPC+ manitou fork from 2005. It has a better damper than virtually everything produced since.
It's fair to say Ohlins know what they are doing. I just wish they'd use standard size eyelets. It makes sourcing bushings for them a royal PITA.
I ordered the rest of the bits for this yesterday.
Another pair of 2.5" super tacky UST Minions, Nukeproof flat pedals (for now) Fizik saddle, Stans valves, and tape (which I dont think I actually need), a pair of 203mm hope rotors, and a SRAM PC1091 chain.
Hopefully that is everything. All being well I hope to take it out for a spin mid to late next week.
I also discovered today that trying to see how close you can get to Strava records on a long road climb near where you live, on a 140mm travel mountain bike on 2.5" wide tyres, even at about 50psi hurts:D
p.s I didnt get that close..!
Hey Pete
I um'd and argh'd over tyre sizes and ended up going with the 2.35 single ply minions.
I was concerned about the weight of the 2.5's. Did you go single or dual ply?
All that is left for me to order now is the cranks/chainrings....then I can start building.
Cheers
Hey Andrew,
Sounds like you are getting close!
I went for the UST 2.5's which I believe are single ply. I have to remove them again so may be able to weigh them. I foolishly assumed the hope green tape was tubeless ready... it isn't. Lucky I have a roll of stans tape on order which I am hoping will arrive today.

The 2.5 USTs are single ply but have a thicker, sturdier sidewall than the "tubed" version singles. They are about 1100g. A 2.5 2 ply is 1350g (from memory). I've been running the USTs (without tubes and with latex) on by Reign X1 for about two and a half years for DH and trail and have never had a flat. IMHO they are an excellent weight for a sturdy DH tyre. There are lighter options with similar grip levels for trail, but you do have to be a little careful with the sidewalls in rock gardens than with the Minion USTs.
James.
Pretty much done...
