    Fav clincher road tyres

What do you like/have had good experience with ?

I don't race but do like good grip and low RR over something that wears like iron and is skittish. There are lots of long, fast descents around here, I need some security

I'm definitely going 25's, at least on the rear, IMO they will suit my weight better (187cm/88kg) and give the solid/stiff rear end a bit of cush.
I have to ride a bit of gravel and all the roads around here are dead dead dead. There is bugger all hotmix, it's all blue metal over spay bitumen, typical country roads.

ATM I'm leaning towards GP 4000's or maybe Rubino Pro III or Slicks (I think the slicks would be better on these roads)
Anything else I should consider ? Krylions ? or something a bit exotic like Open Corsa Evo CX ? (cushy ride)

I like Continental Ultra Gatorskins, mainly for their puncture resistance. The dark gumwalls do seem to break down after a couple of years, however. I generally ride enough k's to wear them out before this happens and swap them over to the work bike. I've been getting them from the UK. Mine are 23s but I think you can get them in 25.

Have tried Conti Gatorskins... great tyre if pumped up hard (120+psi) i wear them out quite quick tho..

On my second set of Conti Attack and force - excellent tyre as good as gatorskins and deal with my weight (you lightweight rick) of 110kgs..

also have some gp4000's to try out that have been sitting there waiting to used...

I have tried Michelin prorace also good tyre but low puncture resistance with my weight and wear out quick...

Contis are much cheaper overseas (about 50% of the cost)

    Thanks fella's
I was away from the forum for a while and forgot all about this thread

EchiDna, I've been partial to Schwalbe for a long time, I've used their MTB tyres a lot in the past and still have some stashed away some were (God they'll be hard now... )
    They were always fast.

Used to use Conti Gatorskins but, well, they are a bit dead and heavy (did I just say that... I thought i was a reformed weight weenie....)

I tend to get my tyres these days from PBK or CRC in the UK, both have great prices and service.
