    Defender Under-bonnet Sound Insulation

Heres a fix for all of you Defender drivers with a stuffed under bonnet lining

I had previously done this on my old Defender, but never had a chance to take some happy snaps

    So here goes:

    Old stuff:

Strip that off, rust kill all the rust spots and paint. Then get hold of some of this stuff:

Costs about $60 for a sheet

Cut it out to shape, make sure you mark it out on the right side. (You have to flip it over to stick it on)

Grab hold of a mate and ask for a hand because it's bloody sticky and doesn't like coming back off, and stick it down

    The finished product:

Where do you get it? Did you use the old lining as a template?

Just did mine also. Was a lot easier to stick on than I thought, considering I did it by myself.

Seemed to quieten it down a bit, but maybe not as much as I had hoped.

I also got hold of a few metres of door seal rubber from Clark Rubber and ran it around the bonnet edge so when the bonnet is closed there is no gap between the bonnet and the top of the guards....also helps to support the bonnet with the added weight of the wolf rim.

    Cheers

I thought about this, as there's a good inch or so gap at the front. Would this reduce the ventilation and have a detrimental effect?

Jock how duid you get the old stuff of where it was stuck to teh bonet.

Ranga ya bugger ya could have mentioned it as I want to do mine as well.

The noise issue probably will be not much different but the old stuff is hanging down and crumbling on mine.

Can you tell me where you got the stuff from? and $.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
