for anyone wondering how im going to use the fwd motor in a north south situation
first up is my preferred option

next is the most common when using a front wheel drive motor

Nice build up, mate. I look forward to seeing how it turns out, having owned both a Daihatsu F10 and an Applause. It may be worth keeping in mind that the Daihatsu Feroza runs a version of the Applause motor in a North-South configuration.

Just an idea for something completely different.

You can run a massive alternator off the motor, then couple the transfercase to an very torquey electric motor. That way there is no gearbox and no interfaces (ie clutch, gearbox , transfercase to mate up). An electric motor will give you very quick acceleration as well as very low speed, which may also save on lower rock crawling gear conversions. Run a bank of batteries for some reserve.

There was a series Land Rover set up like this in the USA, and there was a Discovery Channel episode on it.

saw that like the idea but gearing wont be a issue as top speed will be around 60kmh
and my slowest speed will be about half walking pass at high revs
