Nice work Jock.
Would a full guard like that tend to insulate and stop heat transfer out of the shock?
Steve
I bought myself a set of Bilstein shockies to fit in the Defender
Since they are only a single skin and the rear shockies aren't really protected I decided to make up some stone guards. To be honest I got the original idea from Suspension Stuff but modified them to my own design
Firstly you need some pipe, I just happened upon some Galv which saves painting them
Half a dozen o-rings to fit over the outside of your shockie and inside the pipe. For the particular ones I used, Pirtek Part No: #135N70
And two decent pipe clamps
Cut the pipe to length and tidy up the ends, cut a slot halfway through the pipe wide enough to accomodate the pipe clamp. Feed the orings in so that one sits just below the edge at the highest point, one behind the pipe clamp and one just below the slot
This will try to prevent dirt and gravel collecting behind the guard and also stop metal to metal chafing between the shockie and pipe

Possibly
But there is an air gap between the outer shock skin and the cover so I can't imagine it would affect it to much
