    Is it an optical illusion or could the tub go further back to get the wheel to sit in the centre of the wheel arch?

    perhaps, but we have chosen to match the end of the tub with the rear of the rear cross-member (as per std LR hardtop & tub ), as the cross member is intended to be used for additional purposes (jerry can holders, swing away spare)
