D2 Dual battery set up, Compressor, CB fitting & Rear shovel/Axe holder

Got around to fitting it up. I have a Pirahna 180 solonoid hooked up to a Pirahna battery monitor. I bought an ARB battery tray, fitted it and its way too small for a decent battery so I used the tray for mounting my Blue Tongue compressor and the solonoid, It came up quite neat and hopefully behind the heat shield it should be a bit protected from the heat off the turbo. I ended up putting my aux battery in the back right cavity where the RH third row seat goes using the seat brackets to fix it down. Also wired and mounted the Mobitronic for the fridge and added 4 power outlets 2 heavy and 2 light. In behind the little vent just inside the door I've fitted a fusebox wired to the aux battery.I bought a sealed fullriver 120ah deep cycle battery and boy is it heavy to lift compared to my other deep cycle. Hopefully it does the trick. I ended up fitting the CB up on the overhead console. I will be building a storage unit after chrissy. Still have to clean the wires up a bit. Some pics

    Hi mate. Looks very nice!

With regards to the CB.. where were you able to run the wires to the antenna? Was the antenna mounted on the bull bar?

Im looking for a CB and thinking of hooking it up myself. I want to mount it on the console, where you mounted yours. So im just looking for some advice as to how i can hide the cables!

    Cheers

Gday Damo Sorry for the delay. I ran mine on top of the map shelf(if that makes sense) to the right of the radio and then down behind the pillar plastic cover. Then down beside the dash and out through a rubber grommet which is around where the sound proofing finishes half way up the floor in the middle of the drivers floor area. Then routed under the bonnet to the factory front steel bar.One downside is I did'nt want to muck around with my rooflining so a couple of inches of cable is seen between the roof console and the pillar cover but that does'nt bother me as it is'nt majorly noticeable.

    Gday steve.

Thanks for the info mate. I would be in the same boat as you with regards to mucking around with the roof lining. What you have done sounds exactly like what I would plan on doing.

    Cheers,

    Damo

Definitely want to go for the rear bin option like you have sharkee, with a volt meter up near the dash so i can check the volts of both batteries. Also would like something installed at the other end near the rear cargo bin that tells me how many amps is being drained from the battery. That way i know for certain how much each appliance is pulling out of my auxillary battery. would i be looking for an ammeter to do this?

I shoved the antenna cable in between the headlining & the winscreen seal - hasn't fallen out yet & can't be seen
Piggybacked the power off the interior light

An alternate for an AGM sealed battery is to mount it on the chassis rails under the passenger's side of the car (if you don't have the air bag gear that is mounted there normally).

Mine has run on the chassis rail in tough conditions doing real 4x4 work for 4 years - leaves all the space in the rear for stuff you need access to.
