Well rushed a few things in just before we left. Luckily, member wal-rat was getting rid of his rear airbag helpers which were nearly new. so i picked them up and threw them in my truck. This was not a straight stuff in and plumb affair, the spring cups needed to be shut at the top. I did this by welding some 4mm plate with a hole drilled for the air hose. I got some good pics I'll post when I'm in melbourne in a few weeks. I also chopped the thread off an old tow bar and made a step out of some 4mm plate so we can climb in the back, the paint was still drying on that as we set off.
Keep track of our trip here www.optionroad.wordpress.com

We are just at the start of our 1985 Isuzu County build up.
Ours will be for trips and some touring but not an extended stay such as yours.
When you're in Melbourne , call if you need a garage to work in or a place to stay.
We have a spare room

We've hit our frist mechanical hiccup
As luck would have it right in the heart of Radelaide while we are camped at Sarah's aunts with the use of a ford falcon ute to run around town
We arrived back from the botanic gardens after a 20min drive to find a small amount of water dripping from the radiator. On closer inspection the solder on the union for the top hose had cracked and was causing a small leak. So I have whipped it straight out and it's currently at Natrad getting the full treatment. This has held us up in Adelaide for longer than expected but we are being well looked after by sare's fam and seeing a lot of the city so all is not lost.
Better to find it now than the whole pipe come loose in the middle of nowhere.
Good to see you're embracing the opportunity and having a good look around.
Steve
Certainly is!! I had them flush and pressure test the core also and found about 8 or 10 pin holes in the core. So we opted for a brand new core.
ouch
So another day and a quick 1k later and we'll be rolling again with a brand spanking new radiator (core). this will complete the full list of checks I should have done before I left. I planned to finish anything back in syd that need doing after our trial run but leaky radiators can not be pushed aside!
Air bags. Did this in about four hours. Two days before we packed the truck to leave. what a rush! Thanks to my younger brother getting the welder out on his birthday!!!!![]()
