Thought this may be useful to anyone who needs to do the rocker cover gaskets on their Thor V8.

So open the bonnet, and remove the plastic cover from the radiator:

Remove air filter box lid and filter:

Remove inlet piping, MAF, IACV etc – I removed the IACV by unbolting the 2 mounting bolts and hen removing the 1 hose fitting from the middle of the inlet plenum:

Remove throttle and cruise control cables:

Remove the 2 hoses and the electrical plug from back of throttle body - You would normally need to remove the water plumbing from this too, but it has already been bypassed on this car:

Remove vacuum and servo hoses, and unbolt the cable mount bracket for the cables:

Remove the valve as below:

unbolt coil packs from back: 4 vertical bolts:

unbolt Plenum with the 4 obvious bolts and the 2 arrowed:

Lift off plenum ensuring that nothing can drop in:

I now removed the Coil packs and old leads as I wanted to change the plugs and leads.:

New leads and platinum 4 plugs:

Take belt of aircon compressor:

Remove aircon compressor - yep really – actually quite easy – move out of the way on flexible piping!

Remove Left hand rocker cover:

Clean:

Refit with new seal I put a tiny amount of loctite 518 sealant on the face of the heads too (also check for any wiring loom shielding damage):

Fit new loom shielding as required:

Refit compressor and then belt – follow torque settings in the book:

Remove water pipe from head – probably wise to have a new oring ready, and loosen the other pipe mounts – this will give it enough freedom -also remove alternator wiring:

Remove rocker cover after repositioning pipes and so on:

Clean and refit with new seal as per the other side:

redo wiring shielding again as required on this side:

Coilpacks, plenum seal and leads in position:

Refit plenum

Connect up HT Leads, inlet piping, IACV, throttle body piping, cables etc.

Test - all good!

Refit plastic covers, cable tie wiring etc.

All done!
