    TD5 INJECTOR LOOM MOD

    Hi

Can anyone recommend a good epoxy type heat proof resin to fill and seal the large plug on the end of the injector loom????
Ive soldered the tips of the copper wire on the injector plugs with success and now want to do the main plug.....to be sure to be sure!

    cheers

    Hey Bronson,

Just wondering what this mod involves and if the soldering of the joints actually works, and keepd the oil out?

    Cheers

I pull the harness apart as well and seal everything with Three Bond. 40000 k and there is not the slightest indication of oil in the engine harness at the main plug. I find Three Bond flows well into and around the crimps, just make sure you allow it to cure fully before refitting the harness. I also left the seal off the main connector on the ECU - after flushing the main harness - and the oil that was originally in the harness has stopped running out. I have moved my ECU to the centre console, so having no seal is not a problem - and the auxiliary tank out of my old County is now under the drivers seat.

Thanks for that, so basically you strip the loom, solder all the joints, apply three bond, allow to cure and reassemble?

Yep, that is all I have done. I have a spare harness somewhere that I have done as well, but I think it is now surplus to requirements. If you can stop oil entry at the injector connectors and the main plug you can't have a problem.

you dont need to soilder anything.

5 min araldite.. fill the tops of the plugs X5 and do the same for the main plug.
tip #1, heat up the mixed araldite a bit to make it runny then it will run into every crevis in the main plug.
tip #2 wait for the araldite to start going hard before putting in the tops of the injector plugs, you dont want it to run down into the body where the pins are.

and make sure that the gaskets are in every injector plug, theres no point sealing the top of the plugs if its not fitted.

    easy as that.

    cheers phil
