Not sure of the weights but I'm pretty sure it's a considerable difference. Not to fussed about the weight,I'm chasing reliability and power something which is hard to get from a 300 without spending a fortune
Pretty sure OME do a Isuzu specific front spring so I might go that way when it's finished

Progress report
Rear quarters in place with Gullwings fitted, seatbox and floors all fitted and everything attached
I also finished off the watercooling for the turbo, I'm hoping its going to work. I've put the taps in so it's possible to isolate the heater core
I have 5 doors sitting there all painted up, just waiting for some hinges to be painted so I can bolt them on and fit it all out
The roof is painted and I'll be picking it up tomorrow :)

Just realised it's been a while since an update, my laptop died and I had a mates wedding and bucks party to attend.
Sorry only had a chance for one photo
Picked up the 255's and bolted them on, roof on, headlights rewired with H/D relay, interior fully fitted, doors all bolted on - just need winder mechanisms fitted. It's now in at the intercooler place getting the intercooler and intake system made up. He is also doing the A/C hoses and his auto electrician is wiring up the A/C. Turned out to be a bit of a hair brainer with the Td5 A/C unit requiring input and output signals from the ECU. Finger crossed we can get it up and running.
Currently modifying the radiator mounts as we've have to space it back about 25mm to fit the intercooler and A/C condensor in. Getting pretty sqeezy in the front nose cone area

Hi Jock, great thread, will be an awsome 110 when finished. I see your fitting AC from a td5 and are having electrical problems. Do you know what the issues are and the fixes? I'm also about to fit a td5 defender AC into my 84 isuzu 130 and would greatly appreciate any tips! The only td5 bit I will be using is the whole under dash unit.

No major drama's I hope. The thermistor in the Td5 A/C units sends a signal to the ECU which then switches the A/C clutch and fans on as required. We are just hooking the fans up so they come on with the clutch and hoping the thermistor sends out a positive or negative voltage that we can use to switch a relay. I'll get the sparky to put his mods on a schematic when we get it workingQuote:

Brilliant work on going on in this thread, I've missed it up until now. I see you are using the 300tdi radiator mounts; did you cut and shut them or are they untouched?
I only ask because, having just completed a very similar conversion (4BD1 into 300tdi Defender), we used the 300tdi rad mounts as well but had to cut them to make them fit well with the 4BD1 rad. Both height and reach of the bracket were reduced. It looks like you have a ~25mm gap between the slam panel and the rad; I have no gap there, but I think that might make squeezing the AC condenser in a challenge. Also, are you eliminating the brace bars between the slam panel and the chassis?
