Very well thought out set up. I like it
Decided to make a rear shelf behind front seats, for planned trip to simmo, Birdsville to Alice Springs. Need more storage space. I had an old government coffee table with steel frame which fitted between wheel arch humps. Welded 2x gav tubes to it. Painted satin black frame120mmx80mm top, carpet and alloys strips from bunnings, Four top tie downs and 4x side eye bolts.
Very well thought out set up. I like it
I have also used the back seat area in my 2002 for storage , but without doing the construction that you have undertaken.
I have fitted tie down points in the recesses that the seat bolts fit in, utilizing the tie down points from the back corners of the load area which were not needed with my ply false floor.
In addition, I have fitted marine tie down loops to a piece of 25x25MM angle that I have fitted between the front tie down points in the load area.
This enables the use of Big W boxes, that are secured by a strap between the two points . You can (just) fit three rows of boxes across the seat area between the wheel arches, and these can be combinations of medium and large up to three high, so say 6 large and 3 medium can be carried.
I found many years ago in my RRC that the boxes tended to slide forward, so I bought 30x30 light angle that Bunnings sell with all sorts of holes punched in them and also mounted them to the front rear seat mounting points.
I find this to be simple and quick and enable easy refitting of the bloody heavy rear seat after the trip.

I too had tubs sliding forward last weekend, 2 ideas one was alloy angles on front, or maybe square wire screen on the front of frame.we are doing birdville to simmo across to Alice then palm valley in 5 weeks. There will be plenty of load shift.
Hi Phillip I too would like to see your setup in pictures.![]()
OK, I will get motivated if I can stop bloody freezing.
My setup also allows the use of the small seat to be folded forward and still have boxes behind it.
I had to pick up my wife's cousin in Adelaide to take to Kangaroo Island so had to allow for that.

OK , these are photos of the arrangement for the small seat which will fold forward with the headrest removed.

I will post below the other side.

You will have to imagine the seat out. I only had 2 tie down eyes so made up another angled bit for the other end.

You can buy the perforated angle at Bunnings.
The Big W plastic tubs fit exactly in between the front and rear stops, and you can fit 3 across by mixing and matching ie medium next to large etc.
