Hi Everyone. I see this thread has taken a life of it's own during my absence. Anyhow the reason for the delay is with the rack off I decided it was probably the only time I'd get to do this. Plus new seals and tinting for the alpine windows going in.
In order to duct the A/C via the headlining I needed to make a minor modification to the cargo barrier. Cut, welded, reinforced and then sprayed in grey to match the interior trim. I've also replaced the rear seat belts with new and also painted the child restraint bar to match.
Only hitch here was SWMBO was not impressed with me hijacking the clothes line. With Sydney hitting its first 30+ degree day last weekend I'm starting to feel the heat to get this finished!
So what should be an update showing the rack, roof mounted condenser and other bits in place is instead a little thin. Being a heavy bastard (the rack - not me) I asked for assistance to get the rack up and onto the roof, with the simple instruction of "Go slow and be careful not to scratch the paint off the rack or the roof".
Needless to say I'd mentally tied up and removed pieces of my assistants anatomy with an angle grinder when they almost immediately re-positioned the rack on my concrete driveway.
So back to bare metal on 4 of the eight feet. So two steps forward, one step back. Multiple coats of paint now going on (again) with plans to try again this weekend.
At least I got the stainless gutter clips cleaned and new rubber strips applied.

Apologies for the lack of progress on this thread. I've had to park the build while I focused on a few other matters. Moving house, un-burying my tools, sourcing, painting and refitting new LHS doors have taken up some time, plus I also upgraded to new galavanised hinges which are very sweet. With the factory intercooler weeping oil I also upgraded to a front mount Allisport. Joy! Oh, I also have changed jobs and set up a new business venture too.
Whew!
Eagle-eyed readers will note that the condenser is now permanently mounted with big MOFO high tensile bolts. Complete overkill really but at least it doesn't look anorexic. And I might have binned the steel rack when I tripped over a deal on a used Front Runner alloy rack and ladder combo. Very happy!
