Thread: V8 county ute

The auto shifter is nearly done, I need to get the electrical side sorted with the lights to the console and park inhibitor switch, so more parts chasing.
But I’ve been doing some work on the heater, the car came with the air con and heater in one which wasn’t the best.
So changing to standard defender heater , bought of gumtree.
A few new brackets and wiring.
Sorry no photos.
But some of the hard line heater hoses had rusted on the ends, so I trimmed them off and put a flare on the end with gradually increasing the size of a socket and using a bfh to coerce the pipe
Also made up a battery hold down brace
I’ll have to spend some money and buy some new heater hoses
As I can’t make them

Been busy in the shed most nights, although a bit slack on the photos.
Pulled the speedo down, cleaned up and refitted.
Heater fan switch required a new custom loom.
I was chasing a Trunion for the heater cables, it was looking like $80 from the UK, stuff that I’ll make one

I was then looking in my tub of assorted crap when I found an original one

So the heater is good.
The wipers were running a bit slow so pulled the motor off cleaned up , some 800 wet and dry on the contact area and some electrical cleaner.
Ta da. Maybe another 37 years and 500,000 klms.
A new accelerator cable in today “ thanks to Mario” and time to knock off.

There’s not enough material on the sides to fit a blanking plate to so I modded the original radio tray

I picked up a el cheapo
Radio, DVD, navigator that I’ll run OziExplorer on.
The depth is a bit too tight for my liking, I can get it in without the cabling but it’s tight, with use I think I’d be asking for trouble.
So space it out a bit.
