i was going to go the next step and use the disco panels as well. they are easy to get second hand an cheap little more rounder then the rangie so will be better on fuel. will see how it all goes.

My project has taken a back shelf at the moment as I have had some major medical problems that has stopped me from doing any work on it. I’m now about 8 months behind in doing anything to it but hoping in the next month in restarting.
You may find that you will need to take out the firewall and place that into your Rangie as some of the mounting points are on it as well as the kick panels but these might be worked around.
What are you using to take out the spot welds, I purchased a spot weld drill bit, and they not cheep, thinking?? for $35 makes it so much easier.
Yours is looking good; hopefully mine should take some shape soon

as far as the disco in to rangie thing goes i un stitched the dash mounts and added them to the rangie firewall not that hard just very time consuming! and the rest was a pretty easy just lots of spot welds to drill out and care and p lace ment back in the right spots on the rangie shell. it's pretty much done now just need the rear painted and flares, tray and rear wiring loom sorted out and it's off for roadworthy! will post some pics later today

Rear wiring loom to sort out
Put the tray back on and wire it up again and re weld tray mount to new chassis
Some bits for the interior and wire up UHF
Get roadworthy and fail it so the engineer can report on why it failed then get Vic Road approval!
Not that much considering what i have done in just over a month!

So essentially what you have now is:
Discovery chassis
Rangie body chopped down
Discovery doors, bonnet and front guards
Discovery interior.
So the Discovery doors, bonnet and guards just bolt straight on to the Rangie body?
watching with REAL interest, as I want to get a Disco body chop it down to a ute and then put my Rangie bonnet / guards / doors on. All on my Rangie chassis

Where did you manage to pick it up from as i wont mind a couple actully 3???

No , you need the complete front sheetmetal ie inner guards ,rad panel etc. Mick said it was a complete bastard drilling out all the spot welds.Quote:
