More Sanding today on the doors and the firewall. The door skin on the drivers side was particularly bad having a strip of fibre glass in the bottom section to badly cover a rotten door skin. It might be easier to replace the ddoor skin here. The Firewall was wire brushed to expose some rust sections. Looks like a replacement panel will need to be ordered for here and mig welded in place.I spent a good hour wirebrushing the chassis and other components to get rid of the dust dirt and grime ready for the chassis blacck paint to go on. A new tool joined the shed from Super Cheap Auto, taking advantage of their 20% off sale. I picked up a Die grinder which will be of great assistance when i start the welding of the panels etc.

the roof has about 5mm of filler over it , its taking its time to be stripped back so I can attempt to get the roof repaired.

Good stuff Steve, she's coming along!
indeed.
I had a mate over who worked out how we can fix the rust holes in the chassis.
I have the tray designed and will order the steel soon.
Brakes will be the next focus, going to replace the whole lot to be safe.
i was going to rebuild the whole of the steering but I think i'll just try get it on the road for now and look at that as a mini project down the track.
Can't wait to get some paint on it and the body back together.
Steve
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...007/08/274.jpgThe roof has large amounts of bog, the worse being 7mm deep at the back where something has dented the roof. Most of the dints are easily repaired so who knows why you would bother bogging it ?
I have pulled the door handle mechanisms apart and cleaned them up, at the moment they are in primer ready for some colour.

... i hope enjoy it! :)
Good stuff mate!
Don't forget to use aluminum friendly stripper and primer... Ordinary paint stripper will cause the panels to go brittle and non aluminum primer will cause the paint to oxidize really badly after a few years.. (this is what the previous owner of my 2a did.. and why I'm having to line up another respray...)
You site is great.. and I've bookmarked it :)
got the bonnet in Etch Primer :D also primer on the seat box.
Engine & Rad are out, and ready for stripping down for inspection and then rebuild if required otherwise a freshen up. Will undo all the brake lines tomorrow with the new Snap on Brake spanners I picked up.
I also have to continue to strip and sand the paint off all the panels ready for primer. The chassis is getting a good clean too with CT18 and the pressure asher ready for some wire brush and sander action before getting some chassis black paint.
It is a long slow process. Can't wait to get cracking on the motor as its something that is less noisy and can be done later into the night without the neighbours complaining.
I'll post some more photos tomorrow
