This is safer than using a shackle as any time you put a shackle in you are adding a potential projectile to the equation.

True, I used only the pin with the snatch strap, BUT, as we found out, you also need the hitch as we couldnt use the recovery vehicles winch as the winch hook wont fit inside the tow bar. So ill be buying one anyway so not to limit recovery options.
