A most excellent post Deejay, I enjoy your lateral think for the problems encountered , especially the castor wheel jobbie... oh where are the original star wheel? and where did you get them please. cheers

They are going to get the Swampers fitted, just waiting to hear how much blood the taxman wants off me this year. If I can afford it, they will be galv first -about $40 each. They are Nissan rims but only 6" that had the centres cut out and the spokes fitted by Eastern Wheel works here in Vic. About 20mm offset so I prefer them to standard LR wheels. darned exxy to have them made nowadays I asked for a price to cut off the 6" & put on 8" and I think it was around $120.00 each.Quote:

Well I've spent the last month clearing out the garage as I'm digging further & more underpinning. When its done the whole house is going to be a garage underneath :eek::eek:.

Its a bit of a head turner, that never occurred to me until it happened. It goes really well, just ask the mitsibushi challanger V6 driver who absolutely thrashed his car off 3 sets of lights trying to get in front. Now that I know it can do it, I'm happy to drive it nice & steady and not worry about it. Besides, I want to get an idea of mileage as, the more I think of it, the less I'm inclined to get it put on gas as its only going to do 5,000 klm a year- coz I use the company car for most tasks.
I'm going up to Gembrook in a couple of weeks, muddy pics then.
One small job I might as well detail, maybe someone could use the idea.
How to secure the front of the tarp without putting vulnerable cleats as the spare tyre(s) will damage them. There are 3 eyelets.

I saw one of these at Bunnings & it gave me an idea.
Cut it down & have a nut on the inside to screw the eyelets closed.

Then drill a hole though the shank size and enlargen the inside to allow for the nut

All thats then needed is to secure the nut in place on the inside of the tray. I welded it on to a plate first - after drilling a hole for the bolt

I busted the lower screw, chinese junk, but it really only needs one as the bolt will hold it firm.

With the spare in place this would also act as a theft deterrant, not necessarily for me, but if anyone else wanted to use the idea. :angel:
