Rear shock lowering

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As apposed to having rear shock mounts fabricated to lower the shock mounting, I had shock extensions fabricated that screw onto the top of the shock absorbers. These are 70mm long and works like a charm - wheel drops right out of the wheel arch, but bottoms out the shock on the way up.

Before these were fitted the shocks were not on full compression when the bump stops started doing their work, but by how much I do not know.

a) What is my solution here.

I currently have the standard coils with OME shocks, but will be replacing these coils with Ironman Performance coils shortly. This should give me a 50mm lift, but (if logic serves me correctly) also stop at the bump stop and bottom out if the extensions are fitted.

b) What is really the difference between my shock extensions and lowering the mounts?
