Headlight wiring upgrade install for a D2

I figured i'd put it in here as well, seeing as it is a project
On Sunday i installed my Traxide Headlight and spottie wiring upgrade, i must say the instrutions supplied by Tim (drivesafe) have got to be THE best instructions i have ever used and also everything that is needed for this install is supplied with the kit, that alone is brilliant.

OK the first thing i did was find a good spot for the relays before i did anything, now initially i put them in where the jack normally goes, but after speaking too Tim and getting some info from the forum, i changed that and have now put the relays in behind the drivers side headlight.

I took out the fuses for the lights, disconnected and removed the battery, disconnected my auxillery battery, removed the drivers side headlight and indicator, orginised the wiring by following the instructions and not cutting anything untill the correct length was measured, the longest wires are too the passenger side headlight, i ran these from the drivers side via the top of the intercooler inside the protective condute supplied in the kit.

When you remove the battery you'll find a few holes that you can run wires through, if you have the D2, i would assume the D1 will be similar.

I then ran the earth behind the headlight along here

To the vehicle supplied earth terminals in front of the main fuse box, here.

Then i connected the wires to the first headlight relay and mounted it here.

I then did the same too the second relay and mounted it too, here.

They fit very nicely in there and i only needed too drill 2 small holes for one of the two relays.

I re-installed the battery, then the light fuses and tested that it all worked, the only thing i did different was i didn't use the switch supplied, instead i used a factory switch from a D1 and installed it where the factory spotlight switch goes under the foglight switch.

Yes i know it's a cruise control switch, but it will do for now

It's amazing how brighter they look, i'm very pleased with the result, thanks very much for the help and advice Tim, another great Traxide product.

Also a big thank you too Kerry for her help with the installation, she loves doing electrical stuff and helping with mods on the car.

    Baz.
