I've had these fitted for a while, but I thought that I'd show you the set-up in the old girl. I did a heap of homework before doing the job, and it seemed that most people were going with the little batteries to fit them under the seat.
Now I wasn't too happy with that idea, especially with a 80 litre Waeco to keep running. So I did a little cut and shutting and placed a couple of decent batteries in there:
I have mounted them east-west, and secured them together:
I am using a Narva fuse box for the accessories up the front of the vehicle - especially in the roof console:
I've used a marine switch to isolate the batteries when necessary. It's wired into the earth side - so when I isolate it, it cuts all power to the vehicle. Who really cares about the radio station or the clock anyway - and that's all that runs of permanent power in the old girl.
When I save up enough money I am going to put in a mud console from the UK. Until then, the diff lock and compressor switches are still sitting loose in the centre console area:
And all completed:
The current problem I have is that the cover will not fit back on without shorting the batteries. Eventually I want to take out the tray and fabricate one that's deeper and is level. I am using a couple of pieces of 4x2 to keep the batteries level at the moment - works a treat.
However for now, it works quite well and does everything that I need.
Cheers
Chris
