OK its may not be a Rover but some of it is going into a series
I'm afraid it involves 2 Toyotas and a series Land Rover.
As some of you know I puchased a 4BD1T 120" to replace the HJ 47 Runaway
Bugger!
I've also lost a series 3 Lost another 4X4
So now need another 4X4 and I can't bear to turn the 120" 110 out to the ruff nuts here
We have a very straight HJ 45 Toymota with a cooked H diesel. We have a HJ 47 with a 130K 2H, gear box but smashed transfer and we have a HJ 60 Power steering set up.
Now please forgive me.... But I'm sure a 40 isn't a threat
I'm posting this as I think may work on a series as similar set up
This involves anti-crush tubes to support repositioned steering box, Some mods to steering shaft and gets rid of the silly relay. Pics soon

I am happy to look at this thread.
A mate of mine recently bought a HJ47 traytop ($9000) and is considering a power steer conversion. Given that he has no mecahnical skills (took 4 hours to do oil and filter on it) I am sure I will end up being the "expert" on the conversion.
I intend to use as much of the HJ60 steering setup as possible and fit it to the HJ45 as may have to be certified. I have spoken to an engineer and is ok but have to take pics of any cutting or weilding. Not keen on cutting steering shaft though.
So had to rip the 45 column out and put the 60 shaft in and graft the lower column to the top 45 flange so all fits back original.

Easiest way to do it, is source genuine 40 series P/S, generally fitted to all BJ/FJ42 LX's, hard to find, dear to buy, but makes for ease of fitment, then just grab a pump and pulleys, from a HJ60 and your done

Now the nasty bit
The box will now go inplace of the relay and the shock mount was in the wayI'll deal with it after
I set the box up as would be in the 60 then drilled 12mm holes through chassis. On the inside opened up holes to put anti-crush tubes in.

60 series stuff is probably the way to go. Getting rid of the sloppy relay is a big bonus.
