    relocation of p/s reservoir/coil in a D1 3.9l V8 for Dual battery

    Hi Guys

l needed to find a place to relocate the p/s reservoir and coil in my D1 V8 to fit another battery ..after some careful thinking and endless searching on the forum and the net l really couldn't find much on the v8 but heaps of ideas for the diesel so i thought i would show you you where we put them for the v8

The coil, l found (with the help of the little bro...thanks bro...)we searched hi and low for a nice even place to mount it and found the best place was on the inner guard under the break booster mounted with bolts reinforced with large washes back and front ..l had to go and buy a extended coil lead to reach the new placement but a new one was needed anyway ...to get the cabling over to the other side simply disconnect and pass the conduit bundle back through the rout it leads from, back to the rear of the alternator and ran it over to the new position, a better place for it anyway IMHO ( ..simple for some l know ..but just thought id explain )

The p/s reservoir !...we removed the bracket and cut of the mounting bracket for the reservoir and welded a length of 5cmx3m steel about 30cm long to the main radiator bracket and then welded the mounting bracket back to the end of the length of steel (welding courtesy of my little bro as my hand is not up to it at the mo.....and because lm still learning..)...

all works well and now have a place for the second battery in a v8 ....

    cheers

Looks very restrictive for the air inlet to the filter box being that close to to the battery, I have the round tin airbox which leaves a lot more room, I'll try posting a pic, Regards Frank.

Frank, I don't know if you remember what mine was like, but same setup and 12 months of trouble free motoring.
In saying that, I'm looking to using my spare round unit and building a snorkle.
By the way, what are those round air filters worth??

just use a Milo tin for the time being ..........but seriously it seem fine thought the reservoir would have some prob with the heat ...but seems fine so far so good and time tow run the 12v sockets to the rear draws for the Engel and such ....

    cheers

x2. I'm keen to know where you purchased it from, part numbers etc also. Seems like a great solution for when you have a snorkel put it.

They can be found on some early discos, later rangies ie ~89-94???

And Jags of the same era....

    Cheers
    Dave.

PS - I've just put a 4'' snorkle on mine, welded a new 4'' inlet to the airbox which seems to be working ok.

Champion. Sounds like hitting the wreckers would be the best bet.
