OK, we have the body off, pics here:

Ha! I asked you on the phone if it was a shorty because the tray in the photo looked a little long...

Is the firewall really stuffed as well? Maybe with a sandblast it will be alright.

Hopefully you can find a complete LWB with a blown motor or gearbox or rusted chassis or something. I have a spare LWB, but it's in too good nick to wreck.

Well, my excuse is that I don't think I'd ever knowingly seen a shorty until I had already bought my camper Series II two weeks ago, which looked huge to me! I am a Land Rover newbie - I think the only thing I knew about them until a fortnight ago was that they are four-wheel drive and have alu bodies.

I was trying to work out what everybody else's excuse was...

I may still head down there and pick up your SWB, TJ, if I can't find a long one up here. It would be no different except for the tub, right?

I agree about the firewall. If we decide definitely to rebuilt this vehicle, I will unbolt it and get it sand-blasted, as it has no discernable rust. If not, somebody else will be very pleased to get it!

I'd assumed that you would be after a LWB instead now, so after reading your post I didn't take any more photos. Yes the tub will be too short, the rear cabin sides and roof will be different too.
