Thats a good looking fender![]()
After dropping off my spectacle frames to the optometrist to have new lenses put on as old ones are scratched to the buggery ,this morning I decided to give my good friend karl ( green light ) a visit at Thornleigh.
so when I arrived at his workshop I noticed Matt's Defender 110 up on the hoist with some bits pulled out of it. R380, LT230 and other bits either resting on a palette , stool or the floor.
The man has a very strange way of greetingor it might just be a landrover ritual of some sort he's performing , or may be he's saluting ......
......don't know...
good Onya Matt.
Matt's Denfender Td5 /110 up on the hoist , checked out those flipped disco rims , don't they look great...
That is ONE Very shiny ................urm.....Diff Protector
LT230 getting prepped up for the Underdrive marriage...
The Story goes that Matt's clutch is due for replacement and while karl has the R380 pulled out , rear main seal will be replaced , new clutch will be fitted and the Ashcroft under-drive is going to be bolted on to LT230 transfer case , and all fitted back in at the same time.should be awesome.
some people here may argue that Maxi-Drive Rock-Crawler gears are a better option ie one less gearbox and less things to go wrong bla bla bla , IMHO this is the ultimate set up on a landrover .my understanding is that you don't loose your standard low range gearing ratios and have the option of Lower Low Range gearing with Underdrive or Just low range gearing.
That is a some serious bit of kitI wish I could post Matt's reaction when I asked him how much $$Moola he paid for the Underdrive
his response was ...." i don't wana think about it....."

That is one good looking defender!!!
Do the rims have to be modded to flip em like that?
Not sure know why he's never bothered to post up any piccys of his defender in here with all the modsI do hope this thread will encourage him to post up a thread in memebers ride and tell us all about his Fender.but then again it's up to him. I was Just fortunate enough to be in right place at the right time to take some piccys before they bolted up the Ashcroft Under-Drive
List of Mods include:
Chipped TD5 ( Td5 Alive )
Ashcroft CV's and axles front
MD Axles rear
MD Lockers F/R.
Equippe extreme lift kit

and few other things which I probably haven't mentioned..
not sure ,I'd says they would be, someone here might have the right answer![]()
Nice, thats on my future wish list for my truck, I beleive they will set you back over 3k though.... im evening making sure i have enough room for it while im installing the patrol box.
The other option for me is a patrol box - then the dual patrol transfercase section fitted up with the LT230 adapter and transfercase....
But yep, thats one nice fender, i like the radius arms, looks like he has spent big dollars on that beast, pretty much everything equip make is on it! (besides there really cool rear bumperettes)
Does he run 35s on d1 rims tho??
are they 12.5s on 7in rims?
Cool, can you ask him how much it was to ship the under drive over and if it required anything done to the tranfercase to fit it up too please??
apparently he is an AULRO memeber but doesn't post regularly or hardly , he wouldn't tell me his Aulro Alias eitherI'll ask him tomorrow if he could stick his head in here and answer a few questions about the Underdrive and the disco Rims.
. I should have asked a few more questions when I was green light.
You could also try PMing Ashtrans as well as he is an Aulro member , hopefully he will see this post and duck in here and answer a few q's raised.
