I should have asked a few more questions when I was green light.

You could also try PMing Ashtrans as well as he is an Aulro member , hopefully he will see this post and duck in here and answer a few q's raised.
    he would be boggo IIRC

    cheers phil

I was looking at one of these being installed to LowRanger's Defender today. I can't see how that rear section (second pic of the 3) can be fitted with the intermediate part (top pic of the 3) fitted to the transfer case. There simply didn't appear to be enough room to slide the shaft and gears into place with the transfer case on the gearbox. When I left, the mechanic was trying to work it out. I suggested he might have to pull the engine, gearbox, and transfer case out, fit the underdrive, and then refit the lot. The fact that the cross-member behind the gearbox isn't removable like it is on Rangies and Discos doesn't help.

    Pete

The cross member is in the way on a 110,well on my 110 anyway
Managed to get it all in the end,a bit of jiggling and juggling and pressure here and there
Ended up mounting the lever to the floor so that it sits between the handbrake lever and the transmission tunnel.
The lever housing is a nice piece of gear, and we were able to move the mounting bolts from the side to holes in the bottom of the housing, allowing it to be mounted from the bottom.

yeah, the way the lever assembly comes assembled,it is set up to mount easily on the passenger side. But I know the wife would complain if I put anything else on her side,so I was happy when we pulled the lever assembly apart and were able to change the mounting points.I will get some pics when it dries out a bit around here, and post them up
