    I realise that has to do with gearing and all that. But that steam tractor did not even rise above idle.

    "Live stim". Is that from the movie "The Sand Pebbles" starring Steve McQueen or is it a common pronunciation among steam buffs?


    That setup looked like the most over engineered trench digger I have ever seen. They left some pretty deep grooves in the ground.

    ah yes
    I saw this a few days ago as well
    i dont think its a really good comparison though
    the Green tractor with the John Deere Colors is more for speed and sled pulling I think where as the traction engine is very different. I am pretty sure it doesn't even have 4WD.

    I think that if it was a proper John Deere of size matching the bonnet and properly ballasted, it would be quite a different result.

    Steam engines have maximum torque a zero revs. Also consider the mass on those driving wheels. Lotza traction.
