    High-speed rail for SE QLD?

High-speed rail in south-east Queensland could be legacy of potential 2028 Olympics - Sport - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I see the feasibility for an Olympics in SE Qld in 2028 proposes a high-speed rail link between Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine coasts, with a 45 minute travel time.
What a great idea! This would be a terrific legacy for the people of the region to get from hosting an Olympics.
If the proposed Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne high speed rail link ever gets some political traction the whole lot could revolutionize East Coast travel.
We are long overdue for some significant investment in rail in this country.

a great idea with 45min schedule currently mooted.

now, every suburb along the line will want the train to stop there and there will be petitions and it will end up like the non express Brisbane-Gold Coast express trains.

not trying to rain on the parade at all , I think there should be just the 3 stations , after all we don't have stops on air routes do we?

Will it be as quick as the Redcliffe line. How many years and dollars for a short spur line and still not ready. I doubt there is the right political and business mindset to actually pull off a project like this. Hope I am proven wrong though

Well the idea is with the pull from 3 large councils , Queensland Govt and Federal Govt , as a joint effort for funding and infrastructure , it should be a goer.

There would be a lot of engineering companies interested.

I wonder if we could keep it Australian.

All rolling stock could be built here with o/s assistance/advice , just like our subs will be.

If they could harmonise it with the larger proposal for an East Coast high speed rail Brisbane-Sydney-Canberra-Melbourne it could be great.
