Is she really an Oilburner? "going by the Two Tank Wagons" ie one for water & one for fuel Oil.

That looks like coal in the tender, and I listened a day or two ago to an interview with the driver for this trip, and he referred to the amount of work involved in shovelling coal.

I suggest the two mismatched tank cars may reflect the paucity of high flow water services adjacent to tracks these days.

    Thanks John.

The reason I asked about her fuel was, I'm sure I read somewhere that she was fuelled by oil. Further searching seems very positive it is Coal.

The tank cars she was pictured trailing appeared to be one Oil (Large Tank) & one (smaller one) normally used for the general carriage of water.

I realise some Locos used Coal with Fuel Oil Injection to assist so did wonder.

Consensus online seems to make it Coal only so I'll go with that unless proved otherwise.

Hi Bee and all steam locomotives in NSW, with the exception of the 59 class, were/are coal fired.

The Yank built 59 class were initially oil burners but most ( if not all ) were converted to coal.

Not sure what happened to the consist after it topped the Range,, assorted carriages and an extra rattler.. some serious shunting happened somewhere!

late edit:-- could that extra tanker be diesel?? also explains why the rattlers were re positioned??
