Was the motor running?
I always place a rag or something on cable, put wheel stops in and get people to move the hell away.
My 2c.
Was looking at some youtube clips on snatch strap recoveries and came across this gem.
The clip is pretty long but is a great training video on how not to do things.
How about each person who looks at it, finding one dangerous/errant method and commenting on how it should have been done.
I'll start.
Guy with the extra battery, not well positioned. Lucky the cable didn't snap at the other end and come back towards the Disco.

SubscriberI have seen this before and wonder at the stupidity involved. The only edifying part is that they got away with it without someone being killed.
Mistakes
1 driving in there in the first place without checking
2 not using 2 methods of extraction ie high lift jack or bullbag to lift the car out of the mud suction.
3 snatching with a tow strap
4 joining tow strap and snatch with a shackle
5 trying a single line pull on a car obviously well and truly stuck
6 No damper on the cable or snatch strap
7 not anchoring the Disco from start
8 not putting the waffle under the wheels
9 repeatedly snatching . I bet the Disco will have a diff go bang soon.
10 Spectators next to the cable.WOW.
There are probably some that I have missed, but what a farce.

Hi,
that had such potential for carnage!
cheers
What an absolute bunch of TOSSA'S!! There the type who get someone hurt or killed and sit around wondering why it happened.Cars and parts are replaceable, people ARE NOT!!!!!
Don't get me started on the **** that is the "Damper" on a Snatch Strap or Winch rope.
Seeing both the winch rope and a snatch strap break in the video, how much would a 300X300 flap of material have slowed either of them down in time to save a life?
Whoever first marketed Dampers must be laughing all the way to the bank.
How about 15 minutes with a shovel to clear the goop away.
Using the towball for the last series of 10+ snatches was pretty impressive as well.
I thought the 10 spline axles on the Disco did really well
Were they using jumper leads when they had the batteries joined?????
Or just the terminals touching.
