What are the benefits (if any) of a 24V winch?

Looking at picking up a winch on Saturday and I am just wondering if there are any benefits of running a 24V winch instead of 12V?

Additional battery setup, wiring and switching would need to be installed but is it worth it?

Depends how you set it up, with a true 24v motor, you'll half the current for the same horsepower, or run 12V motor on 24V for double the grunt......but massive currents with no load, means winching in intermittently or byby winch motor

But unless your serious about speed when winching, no

So if the 24V runs half the current it should give you more winching time from your batteries as well as not heating up as fast?
