Thread: Jacking plate material

What ever works for you, I've used all over the years but currently I use the BBQ plate, why carry 2 items when one will do 2 jobs

Attach a metre of light chain to it so it's easy to drag back out from under the vehicle when you've finished with the jack.

You talking "change a wheel jacking" or Hi-Lift jacking?

Change a wheel - I would go aluminium as per your suggestion for the bottle jack.

Hi-Lift - I would go with the bespoke plastic Hi-Lift base plate any day of the week (or at least a custom one to the same dimensions). It has a recess to prevent slippage and appears to be indestructible.

The Farm Jack brand one sold here in Australia is very similar.
