Or maybe shows the profit margins of the importers of winches and retailers.
If Kogan imports and retails which he does, then the winches are probably the same winches as sell for $699 from retailers who buy from importers.
I know there are BIG retail margins in winches exampled by ALDI selling theirs for $399 and they would still make a big margin .
I bought a Kogan 16inch TV with DVD for AFAIR $119 while the same TV sold for lots more from Dick Smith.

Are they that bad though? Anyone broke one?
going by peoples experiences with their support / warranty of their other products....

I had a good experience with their warranty.
I bought my 90 year old mother a digital photo frame. When it was almost a year old, it began to have problems displaying the photos.
I didn't learn of the problem until I visited Mum and by then it was at least 14 months old.
I told Kogan about the problem and that it had started a little before the warranty period was up, but as I wasn't the owner I hadn't learned of the problem until after the end of the warranty period.
They asked me to send a photo of the scrambled display. I did so and they sent me a new unit which is still working perfectly after three or four years.

That looks remarkably like my Runva 9500 winch, including remote, extra cable, placement and colour of motor terminals etc. I've only used a couple of times in anger in the 6 mths I've had it, so can't yet comment on how long it will last.
Must have missed that one, i usually see the import docs cross my desk at work.

You will find that most "Chinese winches" are built by one or two companies and they change things like gear change knobs or instruction decals.
The winch pictured looks like the winch I bought 9 or 10 years ago, only problem so far is that the winch drum brake is not holding under extreme loads.
Specs. on mine are 6.5HP motor, 256:1 gearing with 11mm IWRC cable, they are all brothers, Regards Frank.
